We can find happiness when we enjoy the things around us and create our own fun.

This little essay is based on a tweet I posted a few days ago, and I wanted to share it with this community.

I thought about it while writing my book and tried to figure out what fun had to do with writing. I’ll give examples to show what I mean.

At its core, fun is created when we enjoy something. It’s not so much that we want things because they are fun, but we have fun because we want the things. Life can be dull and monotonous, but when we start to enjoy even the smallest things, it can take on a whole new life of its own.

Take the case of someone who hates their job.
Even though they are getting paid, the job can be tedious, repetitive, and not fun. But if they can find something they like about their job; like the people they work with, the tasks they have to do, or the comfortable shifts that they have, they can start to enjoy their job and have fun at the same time.

Another example is something you like to do for fun.
We can pick up a hobby that seems like a lot of fun, like writing, but it can get old or even dull if we don’t like it. On the other hand, if we find something we like about a hobby, like a challenge of getting better at writing, the connections we make with other writers, or the chance to be creative, we can start to really enjoy it and make it a lot of fun.

In essence, fun is a way of perceiving what we enjoy. It is a way of connecting with the world and showing our appreciation for the things in it that bring us joy and contentment.

Fun is an energizing feeling that can help us enjoy all that life has to offer.
Without it, life can seem like an endless string of mundane days without any appreciation or joy.

In short, we don’t enjoy things because they are fun; we have fun because we enjoy things. That is why it is so important to take time to appreciate the things around us and find joy and contentment in our lives.
