How do we chase our future while appreciating our present? How do we remember the past without letting it influence our present?
The cure to the fear of the past and anxiety of the future is to embrace today. But how do we develop being in the moment?
Here are a few tips to help you live in the now :
Be Mindful: Open your eyes and look around. Don’t walk on the streets with your eyes on your phone all the time. Observe your environment, interact with your surroundings, record in writing or photographs what goes around in your world.
Meditate: Meditation isn’t easy. Our thoughts are loud, and our minds always scattered. Meditation is useful as it is a tool to guide us towards that calm and peaceful state that we long to enjoy in the present.
Be Grateful: We are all blessed beyond measure but too busy to appreciate it. I hope you are not too busy to be thankful to people and for things in your life. Being grateful may not solve all life’s difficulties, but it will arm us with a better perspective as we face them.
“The ability to be in the present moment is a major component of mental wellness.” — Abraham Maslow.
