Hey friends,

It’s a new dawn; It’s a new day, It’s a new life…it’s a new year, and I hope you are feeling good! So who else is excited for 2022?

This week, I reached out to a few friends to learn about their yearlong theme, goals, and plans. I want to reach out to them and ask how I can assist – I want to help and be the accountability partner you’ve been waiting for – so please write to me if you believe you need one.

This week I reflected on this piece:

The tides advance; the waves recede. Winter goes, and summer comes. Summer wanes, and the cold increases. The sun rises; the sunsets. The moon is complete; the moon is black. The birds arrive; the birds depart. Flowers bloom; flowers fade. Seeds are sown; harvests are reaped. All nature is a circle of moods, and I am a part of nature, and so, like the tides, my spirits will rise; my moods will fall.

that portion above is from OG Mandino’s The Greatest Salesman in the World. It appeals to me since it clearly explains why we occasionally have unpleasant days. In the big scheme of things, we are part of nature, and nature changes season after season, so it’s natural for our emotions to follow suit.

If you are having a poor day, remember that you are a part of nature, and if it is OK for the sky to darken and then shine blue again, it is OK for you to have a bad day as well. Everything will be OK.

Be gentler with yourself, and don’t blame yourself for having a terrible day!

curated nuggets

  • Our body is a magnificent work of art created by God. It’s a pity we ignore it and take it for granted.

  • We all have different pulls and pushes.

  • Chase dreams, not pleasures.

  • Self-care isn’t just about doing whatever you want. It requires performing the difficult, unpleasant, and challenging things that are ‘good’ for you.

weekly note

Each day, when I awaken, I will follow this plan of battle before I am captured by the forces of sadness, self-pity and failure –

If I feel depressed, I will sing

If I feel sad, I will laugh

If I feel ill, I will double my labour

If I feel fear, I will plunge ahead

If I feel inferior, I will raise my voice

If I feel poverty, I will think of wealth to come

If I feel incompetent, I will remember past success

If I feel insignificant, I will remember my goals

Today I will be master of my emotions
